On Friday 9 July 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 131 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 819 fatalities (no new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.

131 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 7,592 tests carried out the day before, representing 20.64 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.73%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 84.29. 

A total of six people are in hospital with the virus, including one patient in intensive care. 

As per figures from Thursday 8 July 2021, there are currently 1,355 active infections known, whilst a total of 69,836 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.36.

A total of 604,188 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (365,471 first doses, 238,717 second doses); 3,107 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 1,819 received their second dose on Thursday.

In view of the positive evolution of the health situation, the Health Ministry no longer communicates data relating to COVID-19 on weekends.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
