On Thursday 8 July 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 131 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 819 fatalities (no new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
131 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 7,071 tests carried out the day before, representing 20.64 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.85%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 85.00.
A total of five people are in hospital with the virus, including one patient in intensive care.
As per figures from Wednesday 7 July 2021, there are 1,226 active infections known, whilst a total of 69,834 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg currently stands at 1.54.
As of Wednesday, a total of 599,264 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (362,367 first doses, 236,897 second doses); 3,525 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 2,658 received their second dose on Wednesday.
