As announced by Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel at a press conference on Wednesday evening, a new online waiting list for those wishing to get vaccinated voluntarily with the Vaxzevria (formerly AstraZeneca) COVID-19 vaccine has been set up.
The new website impfen.lu went live at 18:00 on Wednesday 21 April 2021. Demand was high and the site was quickly overloaded on Wednesday evening.
The waiting list works on a first come, first served basis and is open to anyone aged 30 to 54 who is interested in receiving the Vaxzevria jab voluntarily. The timeline will depend on availability and deliveries of the vaccine.
One of the main goals of this new volunteer system is to prevent leftover doses of the vaccine going unused.
According to other local news sources, 15,000 people had already registered as Thursday morning.
