The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Luxembourg has risen to 140.
This figure is up from the 94 confirmed cases published this morning on the Ministry of Health's dedicated website. Over the weekend, the number of confirmed cases had increased from 77 on Sunday to 81 on Monday. Since then, official figures rose to 94 and have now reached 140.
Included in these rising figures is one death; a 94-year-old man passed away from the disease on Friday 13 March 2020. The man had been in a critical condition since the day before.
At a press conference held yesterday, Luxembourg's Minister of Health Paulette Lenert confirmed that the authorities would publish regular updates each morning around 09:00 on https://msan.gouvernement.lu/en/dossiers/2020/corona-virus.html. Nevertheless, these figures have been updated since this morning, showing a jump from 94 to 140 cases. The Health Minister had also recalled that it was not a case of fewer tests but more prioritised or targeted tests being carried out as cases continue to rise.
