On Friday 2 October 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that 177 offences had been recorded in northern Luxembourg between late May and mid-September as part of the national “Moto 2026” road safety campaign targeting motorcyclists.

During the checks, police inspected motorcyclists' equipment, the general technical condition of their vehicles and the required vehicle documents.

The police made three official reports for excessive speeding, which resulted in two driving licence confiscations. The two motorcyclists concerned were recorded travelling at 157 km/h in a 90 km/h zone and 115 km/h in a 50 km/h zone respectively. The police issued another official report for driving under the influence of drugs or medication.

In total, police issued 173 fixed-penalty notices, including 48 for technical defects such as problems with tyres, lighting or non-compliant exhaust systems. A further 30 motorcyclists were unable to present the required vehicle documents and 27 did not have a safety vest with them.

Police also issued 30 fixed-penalty notices for failure to comply with road signs and priority rules, eighteen for speeding and 20 for offences related to wearing a regulation-compliant helmet.

The police noted that this year's campaign forms part of its wider efforts to reduce accidents on Luxembourg's roads and protect road users.
