On Wednesday 28 January 2026, Lex Delles, Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, together with Marc Spautz, Luxembourg’s Minister of Labour, presented the new national “Work in Luxembourg” web portal and the Talent Desk.

According to the ministries and ADEM, both are key tools designed to strengthen Luxembourg’s “attractiveness in the face of international competition for talent”. These initiatives, developed in collaboration with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts, the ADEM employment agency and Luxinnovation, form part of the government strategy aimed at attracting, retaining and developing the skills essential to the competitiveness and innovation of the national economy.

The authorities noted that almost three quarters of people working in the country are not Luxembourg nationals, whether foreign residents or cross-border workers. Furthermore, the job market is undergoing “rapid and profound” changes, notably as a result of the digital transition, the emergence of new professional profiles and the ageing of the workforce.

Despite a recent increase in unemployment, many sectors, including information technology (IT), finance, healthcare, social, educational and technical professions, are struggling to recruit qualified profiles.

In order to promote Luxembourg internationally as an attractive place to work, the members of the High Committee for the attraction, retention and development of talent decided to pool their actions under a brand called “Work in Luxembourg”.

Under the banner “Your future starts here”, this brand aims to position Luxembourg as an international reference for talent wishing to settle, work and build a sustainable life project in the country. According to the authorities, it highlights the country’s strengths, including security, multiculturalism, a dynamic economy, career opportunities, international education and quality of life, as well as aiming to ensure coordinated communication with both talent and companies.

The authorities also plan to promote the “Work in Luxembourg” brand at international events, in particular in coordination with economic promotion activities organised by partners within the “Trade & Invest” network.  This includes reported plans to integrate a “Work in Luxembourg” initiative into the national pavilion at VivaTech.

Work in Luxembourg Web Portal

Developed by Luxinnovation at the request of the ministry of the Economy, the new www.workinluxembourg.com web portal aims to provide a single entry point for international talent and recruiting companies.

The portal is structured around three main sections:

  • “work here”, dedicated to working conditions, careers and key sectors of the economy;

  • “live here”, focusing on life in Luxembourg, family matters, education, healthcare and leisure;

  • “get started”, which brings together practical information on immigration, job searching and settling in the country.

A relocation guide is available for international talent, while Luxembourg companies can access an Employer Toolkit providing practical information to support international recruitment.

The portal is directly linked to ADEM’s international recruitment platform, which highlights vacancies in professions experiencing significant labour shortages and allows international candidates with matching skills to create an online profile.

According to the authorities, the platform currently includes nearly 11,000 candidates from around the world who have been pre-selected by ADEM. A chatbot integrated into the site provides answers to users’ questions and will be gradually expanded through synergies with other public platforms, including www.guichet.lu. Currently available in English, the portal is designed as an evolving tool and will be translated into additional languages in a second phase, with content to be regularly updated based on user feedback and identified needs.

Talent Desk

Complementing the portal and its chatbot, a physical Talent Desk located near the House of Entrepreneurship aims to inform, guide and support international talent in their steps to settle and integrate in Luxembourg, directing them where appropriate to the relevant institutions. It also seeks to support companies by allowing them to focus on international recruitment, while relying on shared tools and services to promote Luxembourg as a place to work.

The Talent Desk is managed by the Chamber of Commerce, in close collaboration with Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy and the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts, and operates in cooperation with several institutional partners, including the Chamber of Employees.

Among its first projects is the establishment, in collaboration with Luxembourg’s Ministry of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees and the House of Training, of a Spouse Programme to facilitate the professional and social integration of the partners of international talent, thereby promoting their long-term settlement in Luxembourg.

Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, commented: “Attracting, developing and retaining talent is one of the priorities of the coalition agreement, as it is an essential condition for preserving the competitiveness of our economy, maintaining our openness and stimulating innovation. With the new portal and the Talent Desk, we are translating this commitment into concrete, visible and accessible tools that allow us to promote Luxembourg internationally with one voice and to simplify the reception of talent and companies. This represents an essential step in sustainably strengthening Luxembourg’s attractiveness as a place to work, live and find opportunities.”

Luxembourg’s Minister of Labour, Marc Spautz, added: “To remain competitive and attractive internationally, we must continue to attract qualified talent and support our companies in the face of rapid changes in the labour market. The new Work in Luxembourg portal represents an important tool to connect this talent with the opportunities offered by our companies.”

Carlo Thelen, Director General of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, stated: “By hosting the Talent Desk, the Chamber of Commerce is strengthening its commitment to an open, attractive and competitive ecosystem. This new one-stop shop will allow for more effective guidance and support for international talent and their families, and will support companies in their recruitment efforts. By bringing together public and private stakeholders around joint initiatives, we are contributing to promoting Luxembourg and creating the conditions for the long-term anchoring of the talent our economy needs.”

Tom Wirion, Director General of the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts, said: “Attracting, training and retaining talent has become essential to ensure the sustainability of craft enterprises in the face of the retirement of 26,000 employees by 2035. This new strategy marks a decisive step towards strengthening Luxembourg’s attractiveness and offering career opportunities in a sector combining traditional skills and innovation...”

Mario Grotz, CEO of Luxinnovation, stated: “Access to skilled talent is a key lever for companies that innovate in Luxembourg, whether startups or large international groups. These skills lie at the heart of the digital and sustainable transformation we support every day…”
