On Friday 22 December 2023, Luxembourg's Ministry of Finance reported that Luc Schmit, currently the deputy director of the Administration des Contributions Directes (ACD, Direct Tax Administration), will assume the position of Interim Director.
This appointment will take effect from 1 January 2024 and will be until such time as the next permanent director of the ACD is appointed.
The appointment was announced by the Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth, during his visit to the ACD earlier in the day when he informed staff. The Minister met with members of the ACD steering committee and various officials to discuss the ACD's future challenges.
A committee of experts will support the recruitment process of the next director of the ACD.
The candidate's mission will be to make the ACD a modern administration, largely digitalised, accessible and attentive to all taxpayers.
