According to Luxembourg's employment agency (Agence pour le développement de l'emploi - ADEM), the number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 14,133 as of 30 September 2022.

Compared to September 2021, this represents a decrease of 1,508 people or 9.6%. The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, is 4.8%, identical to last month.

The number of jobseekers is down for jobseekers whose registration period is more than 6 months (down 16.8% for registration periods of seven to eleven months and down 20.2% for twelve months and over).

The number of new registrations is on the rise again. Indeed, 2,952 residents registered with ADEM during the month of September 2022, an increase of 147 people or 5.2% compared to September 2021. New registrations last month included 139 registrations from beneficiaries of temporary protection (i.e. refugees from Ukraine).

The number of resident job seekers receiving full unemployment benefit fell by 820 people or 10.5% over one year, to 6,999. The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure stood at 4,133 and is below the level observed in September 2021 (down 346 people, or down 7.7%).

During the month of September 2022, employers declared 3,633 vacant positions to ADEM, which corresponds to a drop of 15.5% compared to September 2021. The number of available positions stood at 13,332 as of September 30, 2022. The increase over one year is 24.5%.
