According to Luxembourg's employment agency, ADEM, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 14,153 as of 31 August 2022.

Compared to August 2021, this represents an decrease of 1,970 people or 12.2%. The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, is 4.8%.

The number of job seekers is notably down for job seekers whose registration period is greater than six months (down 26.7% for registration periods of seven to eleven months and down 20.7% for registration periods of tweleve months and over).

The number of new registrations is on the rise again. Indeed, 2,354 residents registered with ADEM during the month of August 2022, an increase of 277 people or 13.3% compared to August 2021. It should be noted that new registrations for this month include 126 registrations of beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).

The number of resident job seekers benefiting from the full unemployment benefit fell by 1,061 people or 13.2% over one year, to 7,005. The number of beneficiaries of a measure was at 4,060 and is below the level observed in August 2021 (less 278 people, or down 6.4%).

During the month of August 2022, employers declared 4,038 vacant positions to ADEM, which corresponds to an increase of 7.8% compared to August 2021. The number of available positions stood at 13,473 as of 31 August 2022. The increase over one year is 35.9%.
