On Monday 6 September 2021, Luxembourg's Minister of Health Paulette Lenert swore-in Jean-Paul Freichel as the new government commissioner for hospitals.

Jean-Paul Freichel, who was appointed to this role by the Grand Ducal Decree of 5 July 2021, will take over his duties at the Ministry of Health on Wednesday 15 September 2021. He replaces Laurent Zanotelli, who recently resigned, and will serve for a period of seven years.

Previously, Jean-Paul Freichel was administrative and financial director at the Centre hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL).

Among the missions of the new government commissioner for hospitals is the control of legal provisions, as well as the technical, administrative and financial management of hospitals.

Health Minsiter Paulette Lenert commented: "Jean-Paul Freichel has the qualities required for the post of commissioner for hospitals and I look forward to our collaboration".
