According to ADEM, Luxembourg's unemployment agency, as at 31 July 2021, the number of resident jobseekers available for work stood at 16,807; over one year, this represents a decrease of 2,955 people, or 15%.

Compared to the previous month, there were 405 more available resident jobseekers at the end of July 2021 (when it had risen 26.1% due to the COVID-19 pandemic and health restrictions imposed.

The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, amounts to 5.6% and therefore continues to decline compared to previous months.

Employment Measures

In July 2021, 2,164 residents registered with ADEM (1,969 at the end of June 2021), a decrease of 64 people or 2.9% compared to July 2020. 

The number of resident jobseekers assigned to an employment measure stood at 4,437 as of 31 July 2021. Over one year, this constitutes an increase of 476 people, or 12%.

Employment Benefit

A total of 8,239 residents received full unemployment benefit. Over one year, this represents a decrease of 1,724 people, or 17.3%.

Open Positions

During the month of July 2021, employers declared 3,481 vacant positions to ADEM. Over one year, this constitutes an increase of 22.2%.

As of 31 July 2021, ADEM identified 9,714 available positions in its files. Over one year, the number of available positions has increased by 38.7%. Indicators on job vacancies are reaching or even exceeding pre-health crisis levels.
