On 26 October 2016, Luxembourg’s Comité de conjoncture analysed the situation of the job market during September 2016 as well as the national economic situation.
The number of requests put forward for November 2016 has fallen two units in relation to the previous month. In total, nine businesses have requested partial unemployment benefits so as to benefit from the availability of such a measure next month. Following an analysis of the requests, the committee approved nine for businesses which are temporarily experiencing economic difficulty. In the businesses concerned, it is estimated that 522 out of a total of 937 people employed will face reduced hours. The Employment Fund will therefore provide €483,000 to the cause in November 2016.
The committee has responded positively to two requests for tax exemption for compensation in charities as well as showing a positive attitude to legal provisions regarding early retirement arrangements.
Moreover, the committee has analysed in more detail the economic, financial and social situation of a business which wishes to implement a job retention plan. The committee has responded favourably to this request.
The next meeting of the Comité de conjoncture will take place on 23 November 2016.
