On Tuesday 15 July 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that 148 suspected drug dealers were arrested during the first six months of 2026, with drug-related crime remaining one of the force's operational priorities.

The figures include 131 suspects caught in the act and seventeen arrested under warrants between January and the end of June 2026. By comparison, the police arrested 216 suspected drug dealers throughout the whole of 2025. In both years, the majority of arrests took place in Luxembourg City.

The latest figures follow a joint anti-drug operation carried out by the police and the Customs and Excise Administration (ADA) in Luxembourg-Gare on 29 and 30 June 2026. Targeted checks during the two-day operation resulted in the arrest of eight suspected drug dealers, all of whom were subsequently brought before an investigating judge.

According to the police, June recorded 35 drug-related arrests, making it the month with the highest number of such arrests so far in 2026.

The police said it has strengthened its response to drug-related crime by increasing its visible presence in strategic locations and areas identified as particularly affected by drug trafficking. It has also expanded the opening hours of strategically located police stations in the capital and intensified targeted checks and operations aimed at catching suspects in the act.

The police also recalled that, since 1 May 2026, the Luxembourg-Ville police station on Rue du Fossé has been operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The opening hours of the Luxembourg-Gare/Hollerich police station were already extended at the end of 2024.
