With a total 2020 score of 3,796, the new Startup Ecosystem Rankings from StartupBlink show that Luxembourg has risen 13 places to #40 out of a total of 100 cities world-wide.

"Luxembourg is one of Europe’s most successful economies and is known as a strong traditional financial capital. However, a high cost of living and a small local market size with a population of 600,000 are challenging the future trajectory of the local ecosystem. The public sector is taking an active approach to make positive changes with projects such as Digital Luxembourg, a collaborative government initiative strengthening the country’s digital efforts while mentoring and guiding startups."

In the cities ranking, and with a total 2020 score of 1,639, the new Startup Ecosystem Rankings show that Luxembourg city has risen 41 places to #162 since the 2019 rankings were published. The top 5 (in descending order) are the USA, United Kingdom, Israel, Canada and Germany. Luxembourg sits in 25th place of all European countries.

For cities with population of 100,000 — 300,000, Luxembourg city ranks #8, with Brighton (UK) and Porto (PO) topping that ranking.

StartupBlink ranks the startup ecosystems of 100 countries and 1,000 cities for its Global Rankings Report.
