On Wednesday 5 February 2025, the LCGB trade union shared the news that Protection Unit will soon cease its activities in Luxembourg.

The trade union stated that it was shocked to have learned of the security services company's imminent cessation of its activities in the Grand Duchy. It was during a meeting on Wednesday that the general management reportedly shared the news with the staff representatives.

Since its creation in Liège (Belgium) in 2009, Protection Unit has gradually expanded to Brussels, Flanders and Luxembourg. The LCGB added that the company now employs nearly 3,000 people, including close to 300 employees in Luxembourg.

According to the LCGB, in order to guarantee stability, the maintenance of employment and the continuity of services to customers, the company's management specified that the objective of this transfer is part of a judicial reorganisation procedure by transfer of business.

The LCGB assured in its statement that it will request an urgent meeting with the company's management, in order to understand and clarify what led to this situation.

The trade union said it will also ensure that the legal and conventional framework is "strictly respected" in terms of business transfer, while ensuring that there is no harmful impact on the employees concerned, particularly in terms of salary payments.

Moreover, the LCGB said it was committed to preserving jobs as well as the rights and working conditions of Protection Unit Luxembourg employees.
