
On Friday 13 June 2025, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Henna Virkkunen, visited the MeluXina supercomputer, operated by LuxProvide and hosted by LuxConnect in Bissen.
According to Luxembourg’s Ministry for Digitalisation, Ministry of Research and Higher Education, Ministry for Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy and the European Commission, the vice-president was accompanied by Luxembourg’s Minister for Digitalisation and Minister for Research and Higher Education, Stéphanie Obertin, and Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, Elisabeth Margue.
According to the ministries, during the visit the vice-president and the ministers learned about LuxProvide's digital trio, comprising the MeluXina supercomputer, which will be expanded in 2026 with a quantum computer named MeluXina-Q and MeluXina-AI, a computer dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI), which functions as part of the country’s AI Factory.
The ministries also reported that the visit provided an opportunity to discuss current developments and challenges related to the development of artificial intelligence, connectivity and high-performance computing (HPC).
