Ahead of World Science Day on Sunday 10 November 2024, the software solution provider Nsoft has named Luxembourg as the tenth best city worldwide for a software career.
World Science Day highlights the significant role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues. In recognition of World Science Day, NSoft revealed the best global cities for software careers and the highest-paying roles in the industry. This was achieved by analysing various metrics, including average software salaries, the presence of software companies, the cost of living, and the quality of life.
San Francisco has been named the best city worldwide for a software career. The city has an average salary of $137,800 (approximately €128,000) and nearly 7,000 software companies are based there. Singapore ranked second and Amsterdam third with an average salary of approximately €73,000 and over 1,200 software companies. 16,000 open software roles are currently available in Amsterdam.
Luxembourg ranked tenth worldwide and third in Europe (after Amsterdam in third and Copenhagen in ninth place), with 814 open software roles and 279 software companies. The average software salary in Luxembourg is approximately €75,000.
Enterprise architects are the highest-paid professionals in the software industry, with an average salary of almost €78,000, They are followed by technical programme managers, with an average salary of €75,000 and chief technology officers in third place with an average salary of €74,000.
