The 3rd edition of Rails Girls Luxembourg, organised by Women in Digital Initiatives (WIDE), took place on 12 November 2016 at Forum Geesseknäppchen.

Around 50 participants took part in the latest edition of WIDE’s Rails Girls in which they learned computer programming and created their first web application. The youngest participant was only 13 years old. The women were guided at the event by 17 coaches and volunteer organisers.

In a suitable environment, the participants had the opportunity to discover the basic concepts of programming as well as writing their first lines of code. Moreover, several of those who took part expressed the desire to take this further by forming a regular learning group. Some also confirmed that the workshop had strengthened confidence in themselves, not only in terms of working in technological businesses but also for creating their own startups.

WIDE organised Rails Girls with the support of Service Média Communication- the Ministry of State, Digital Luxembourg and the Service national de la Jeunesse.

WIDE has been developing and supporting the presence of women in the sector of new technologies in Luxembourg, and in Europe, for three years.
