On Saturday evening, Luxembourg's Beaufort Knights lost the third home game of the 2019/20 ice hockey season 2-3 against Belgian opponents, the Charleroi Red Roosters.

The absence of one of their strongest defence players, Kevin Grönlund, and their most prolific scorer since his arrival to the team, Sacha Backes, was sorely felt in the early stages of the game when the Red Roosters took an early two goal lead courtesy of a Loic Drury power play goal at 13:49 minutes and an even strength goal by Gil Krnac at 15:34 minutes.

Early in the second period, top scorer Benny Welter secured a first goal for the Beaufort Knights. The game tying goal would eventually come at 37:07 minutes as Mirko Mosr scored his 8th goal of the season on a well executed power play. The second period thus ended 2-2.

In the third period, both teams had chances to score but it would be the Red Roosters who would strike the decisive 2-3 goal. The hurt the Beaufort Knights' chances of reaching the season's playoffs.

The next home match will take place on Saturday 15 February 2020 at 19:30 against the league leading Olympia Heist. The away fixture also ended in overtime with Heist winning 4-3.
