Tel Aviv on Fire;

The European Film Academy (EFA) has announced the titles of the three films nominated for the 2019 European Film Award for the best European Comedy; Luxembourgish co-production "Tel Aviv on Fire" features among this year's nominees.

The nominations for the award category "European Comedy 2019" were determined by a committee composed of EFA Board Members Katriel Schory (Israel) and Angela Bosch Ríus (Spain), distributor/festival programmer Selma Mehadzic (Croatia), film, festival and event specialist Jacob Neiiendam (Denmark) and producer Nik Powell (UK).

Nominees:

  • Ditte & Louise, a Danish production directed by Niclas Bendixen, written by Ditte Hansen and Louise Mieritz and produced by Thomas Heinesen;
  • Tel Aviv on Fire, a co-production between Luxembourg (Samsa Film), France, Israel and Belgium directed by Sameh Zoabi, written by Dan Kleinman and Sameh Zoabi and produced by Bernard Michaux, Milena Poylo, Gilles Sacuto, Amir Harel and Patrick Quinet;
  • The Favourite, a British-Irish co-production directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, written by Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara and produced by Ed Guiney, Ceci Dempsey, Lee Magiday and Yorgos Lanthimos.
More than 3,600 EFA members will soon vote for the winner among the nominated films. The European Comedy 2019 will then be announced at the 32nd European Film Awards Ceremony on Saturday 7 December 2019 in Berlin.
