Luxembourg’s festival of the Fantastic was organised for the first time in 2014 by the Science Fiction & Fantasy Society and is set to take place this year on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April at the Forum Geesseknäppchen; the organisers have now revealed some of the internationally recognised authors and guests who will be present.

The event is a convention based on the English-language model, which allows fans, geeks and nerds to celebrate their favourite books, shows, games, movies and more in the fields of science fiction, fantasy and horror and meet like-minded people. It also offers young local and regional artists, authors, artisans and cosplayers in the fields of speculative genres the opportunity to get in touch with their audience.

Over the years, LuxCon has had up to 5,000 visitors, fans of all ages from the entire region. A large number of national, regional and international guests have been present at the festival during the last few years.

This year, the organisers highlighted the presence of the world-class fantasy writer Samantha Shannon, British author of dystopian and fantasy fiction (known for The Bone Season and The Priory of the Orange Tree), winner of multiple Hugo Awards Cheryl Morgan, British science fiction critic and publisher, as well as Star Trek producer and writer, Eric Stillwell, and the World Fantasy and John W Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel winner, Lavie Tidhar. In addition, many other local, regional and international guests will be present. Furthermore, a multi-faceted programme of discussions, workshops, readings and competitions will be on offer, in addition to a “geek quiz” and a karaoke party on Saturday evening.
