The Grand Ducal Police have reported that the Attert river has been polluted following a fire in a biogas plant across the Belgian-Luxembourg border.

On the morning of Tuesday 2 March 2021, a fire broke out in a biogas plant in Grendel in Belgian Luxembourg (Province du Luxembourg). A considerable amount of biomass wastewater ended up in the Attert near Colpach-Haut, in western Luxembourg.

The Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (Corps grand-ducal d'incendie et de secours - CGDIS), a police helicopter and the Water Management Authority were on site and collected water and soil samples. The SRPR special police (Service Régional de Police Spéciale) from the north of Luxembourg drew up a protocol.
