On Saturday 22 January 2022, Luxembourg energy provider Enovos has warned customers of a new phishing attempt.

Enovos reported that several of its customers had received fraudulent emails claiming to be from the energy provider, telling them that an invoice had been paid twice and asking them to click on a link to be reimbursed.

Enovos warned that this is a phishing attack aimed at stealing sensitive customer data. The energy provider advised customers having received such emails not to click on any activated links and never to communicate any personal or banking details.

Enovos pointed out that these phishing emails are not based on customer data stored within Enovos, as third parties have never had access to such data.

The energy provider stressed that it is not the author of these fraudulent messages, which originate from a platform external to its IT environment, and it has no way of intercepting the sending of these messages.
