The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has announced its support for several initiatives taking place as part of the first edition of Women’s Health Week, scheduled from Monday 1 to Sunday 7 June 2026.
The initiative aims to raise public awareness of gender-related health issues through exhibitions, workshops, discussions and cultural activities across Luxembourg City.
On Tuesday 2 June 2026 at 12:15, the Lëtzebuerg City Museum will host a guided tour of the exhibition “Et leeft” (it is running), in the presence of Martine Deprez, Luxembourg’s Minister of Health and Social Security. Through museum objects, interviews, music, films and art, the exhibition will explore menstruation, public debates surrounding the subject and the evolution of menstrual products from the late nineteenth century to the present day.
Participation is free, although registration is required via email at visites@2musees.vdl.lu. The exhibition will remain open until 19 July 2026.
LëtzMenopause will organise workshop conferences entitled “The Change That Makes You Stronger: A (Peri)Menopause Workshop”, taking place on Tuesday 2 June 2026 from 17:00 to 20:00 at the Centre culturel St-Gengoul and Wednesday 3 June 2026 from 09:00 to 12:00 at the youth hostel in Luxembourg-Pfaffenthal. The sessions will examine the biological and scientific aspects of menopause and perimenopause and will include interactive workshops led by midwife and menopause medicine specialist Cathy Cribben-Pearse.
The workshops aim to help participants better navigate this stage of life both personally and professionally. Participation is free and registration is required via the LëtzMenopause website. The language of the events will be English.
On Friday 5 June 2026 from 18:00 to 20:00, CID | Fraen an Gender, in collaboration with the VdL and the Ville de Dudelange, will host an evening dedicated to endometriosis awareness and discussion.
The programme includes a screening of the documentary This is Endometriosis by filmmaker Georgie Wileman, followed by discussions and personal testimonies. Topics will include managing daily life and work with endometriosis, the psychological impact of the disease, support from relatives and practical advice for living with the condition.
Participation is free, although registration is required via email at info@cid-fg.lu. The event will take place at CID | Fraen an Gender in Luxembourg-Ville and will be held in German, French and English.
On Saturday 6 June 2026 from 11:00 to 14:00, CID | Fraen an Gender, the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque and the Lëtzebuerg City Museum will organise a themed “gourmet walk” focusing on menstruation for young people aged eleven to thirteen accompanied by an adult. This event will take place in German and Luxembourgish.
Participation is free and registration is required via email at info@cid-fg.lu. The programme will begin at the CID children’s and youth library with storytelling and a starter course, followed by a documentary screening by filmmaker Diana Fabianova at the Auditorium Henri Beck in Cercle Cité. Participants will then visit the Lëtzebuerg City Museum for a creative workshop led by artist Lisa Junius, before concluding the event with dessert.
