The Luxembourg Media and Digital Design Centre (LMDDC) has announced it will host its latest workshop, themed ‘EdTech Speed Dating with Things’, on Thursday 23 April 2026, at Luxmill in Esch-Belval.

LMDDC said the workshop will take place from 15:00 to 21:00 and, following the recent introduction by Luxembourg of restrictions on the use of smartphones and screens in schools, will explore a simple question: what if learning began with touch, building, testing and experimentation?

The organisers said the event is primarily aimed at educators, learning professionals and technology enthusiasts, who are invited to discover four interactive workshops:

- Language and Expression: Talking with Things (Maria Montessori)

- Creativity and Art: Making with Things (Leonardo da Vinci)

- Discovery and Experiments: Exploring through Things (Galileo Galilei)

- Logic and Science: Thinking with Things (Albert Einstein)

The workshop has several objectives:

- to demonstrate how physical objects and prototypes can enhance learning and teaching;

- to inspire participants to replicate or adapt the activities within their own organisations (secondary schools, after school clubs, care homes, training programmes, etc.);

- to encourage creativity, experimentation and reflection before turning to digital tools.

Participants will explore prototypes, experiment with tangible materials and leave with practical activities, developed exclusively as open-source and reproducible. They will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with invited subject matter experts who will present their own creative solutions, also aimed at advancing learning through things. The event will conclude with a networking session.

Participation is free of charge. However, places are limited.
