Maison de la Culture Coréenne au Luxembourg Asbl has announced the recent establishment of the King Sejong Institute Luxembourg, an official Korean language and culture education institution, sponsored by the South Korean government.
The government of South Korea tasked the Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation, founded in 2021, with establishing the King Sejong Institute Luxembourg to respond to an increasing demand for Korean culture. The new institution offers Korean language courses and cultural workshops such as Korean cooking and painting, starting on Wednesday 7 September 2022.
King Sejong Institute (KSI) is a brand name for Korean language and culture education institutions worldwide. First launched in 2007 by South Korea's Ministry of Culture, KSIs have been established in 234 locations in 82 countries around the world.
2022 is a special year for Luxembourg and South Korea not only in terms of the opening of KSI Luxembourg, but because it marks 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
With its implementation of KSI Luxembourg, Maison de la Culture Coréenne au Luxembourg Asbl is expected to raise awareness of Korean language and culture in Luxembourg, as well as strengthen ties and promote exchanges between Luxembourg and Korea in the fields of culture, education and research.
