For the third consecutive year, Luxembourg residents of all ages will be able to run, jog, walk or scoot around the Parc Dräi Eechelen course for this year’s RBC Race for the Kids which is being held on Sunday 22 October 2017.

Once again, the fun run, organised by the Luxembourg Red Cross, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and CSL Luxembourg, will see participants completing the run in aid of the Kannerhaus Jean Therapy Centre that undertakes innovative approaches to therapy to help children aged 4 to 18 suffering psychological and behavioural difficulties, and provide support for their families. Since the first race back in 2015, almost €135,000 has been raised for the centre by over 3,000 runners from RBC and the general public.

International and Olympic middle distance runner, Charline Mathias, and Luxembourg jazz musician, composer and percussionist, Pascal Schumacher, will return again in the role of official Race Ambassadors, lending their support and participating on the day. Charline and Pascal were on hand to declare the registration site for this year’s fun run open.

Charline said “Last year’s event was an amazing experience and heart-warming to see so many people come out in support of such a worthwhile cause. I’m delighted to return as an official race ambassador for the RBC Race for the Kids in Luxembourg and announce the registration for this year’s race open! I encourage as many people as possible to get outside, get fit and participate in this year’s fun run.”

Pascal Schumacher stated “The amazing work done by the Luxembourg Red Cross’ Kannerhaus Jean Therapy Centre makes a real difference to so many young lives. The funds raised since the first race in 2015 have had concrete positive benefits to the work undertaken by the many staff and volunteers, who rely on such donations to continue to assist vulnerable children and young adults.”

Yan Huberty, deputy head of the Kannerhaus Jean Therapy Centre, declared “These donations are essential for us to continue to support children and young people and their families. Contributions from RBC Race for the Kids go to the upkeep of the animals at the centre of one of our approaches, allowing us to continue to offer this therapy to many young people in need. Donations will also significantly help fund work we began last year on new buildings to expand the residential treatments we offer.”

Since the first RBC Race for the Kids in New York in 2008, it has developed into a worldwide charitable initiative, with races held in 11 cities across the globe (New York, London, Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis, Sydney, Hong-Kong, Luxembourg Vancouver, Trinidad & Tobago and Kuala-Lumpur) and over €15 million, raised for various children’s charities in many different locations.
