Sacred Heart University (SHU) Luxembourg has announced that it is organising, in partnership with the Luxembourg Bankers Association (ABBL), a course on "Data Science for Business".

In the past year, the use of data and insights based on data has affected all businesses, even the most traditional ones. As a business owner, entrepreneur or manager in a company aiming to exploit the potential of data, there is a need to transition to a more data-analytics thinking mindset.

Far from being required to become a data scientist, with deep technical knowledge, this course intends to set up the basis to become data-analytics oriented, which requires basic understanding of data mining and modeling techniques and the quality and usability of data models, knowing how to define a successful data-science strategy within your business, being able to set up a reliable data science process management and your first data-science team. Moreover, this course aims to help students identify the value of data and its potential monetisation strategies, by exploring some real use-cases from the market.

The course will provide basic theoretical background and hands-on practical projects with the use of cutting-edge tools such as SAS® Viya 3.5, a cloud-based, analytical platform that provides quick, accurate and reliable analytical insights.

The hands-on approach will cover in-class exercises and assignment in the topics of data visualisation, predictive modeling and business forecasting.

The course consists of twelve evening sessions, six of which will take place online and the other six will be held in-person at the Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, from 5 July to 26 August 2021. Classes are led by German Castignani, PhD (SHU Luxembourg Campus), and Dr. Jose Mendoza, DBA (SHU Fairfield Campus).

Each seminar costs €950. Registration for this course is mandatory.
