The ASTI Luxembourg asbl supporting immigrant workers will be holding a public debate on possible solutions for the improved integration of foreigners and cross-border workers in the Grand Duchy, on Tuesday 2 July 2019 from 18:30 to 20:30 at ASTI's headquarters (10 Rue Auguste Laval, L-1922 Luxembourg).

With one million inhabitants plus 400,000 cross-border workers expected in Luxembourg by 2060, ASTI has organised an evening of reflection on solutions for living together. Indeed, the asbl has made clear its thoughts that the "law of 16 December 2008 on the reception and integration of foreigners" must be reformed during the current legislature. In the eyes of ASTI, this reform must be preceded by a wide public debate on living together in Luxembourg, involving the contributions of Luxembourgers and non-Luxembourgers, residents and cross-border workers.

In order to launch this debate, the public is invited to a an evening of reflection aimed at imagining orientations and solutions with social cohesion that will guide the policies of living together for future generations.

Following an initial presentation of several possible demographic scenarios for Luxembourg in 2060, participants will discuss the following in four different workshops: "Economy and demography: what are the limits to growth and migration?" with the contribution of Michel-Edouard Ruben (Fondation IDEA); "Does diversity produce inequalities?" with the contribution of Félix Martins de Brito (Chambre des Salariés); "Cross-border workers: full citizens or cheap labour?" with the contribution of Christophe Sohn (LISER); "What type of immigration for Luxembourg: chosen or subjected?" with the contribution of Jöel Machado (LISER).

Controversial discussions are welcome.
