Comedians Mari Volar and Sharon VS will preview their show "50 Ways Jesus (Almost) Ruined My Life" at the Mirador in Luxembourg-Clausen on Saturday 17 January 2026 at 18:00; doors open at 17:30.
In 2024, the two comedians turned real-life friends took their comedy show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, the world's largest performing arts festival. The show explores their vastly different lived experiences with religion, resulting in a theatrical comedy about organised religion.
The show contrasts the experiences of the two women: Sharon VS was born in the UK and spent her teens and early 20s as a born-again Christian before "coming to her senses"; Mari Volar, born in the Soviet Union (Estonia), grew up in a society where "the only religion was alcoholism and oppression" and is now "desperately trying to understand what the fuss is all about".
This comedic yet poignant performance takes the form of a fictional religious service, in which the comedians use their near-opposing experiences to spark social dialogue on long-held beliefs and question the usefulness of conventional narratives in contemporary structures.
Sharon VS and Mari Volar, both based in Cologne (Germany), are also two of the co-founders of Festrogen Festival, a Luxembourg-based comedy festival for feminists of all genders.
Following the Luxembourg preview, the comedians will tour Ireland with shows scheduled for: Friday 6 February at the Garage Theatre in Monaghan; Saturday 7 February at the An Táin Arts Centre in Dundalk; Tuesday 10 February at Nenagh Arts Centre; Wednesday 11 February at Town Hall Theatre (Studio) in Galway; Thursday 12 February at the Linenhall in Castlebar; and Friday 13 February at Mullingar Arts Centre.
