The Luxembourg Durgotsav Association (LuxUtsav) has announced that it will host the Durga Puja from Saturday 27 September to Thursday 2 October 2025, at Salle Um Duerf in Itzig (3 Rue de Hesperange).

This year marks the seventh year of the association bringing this vibrant Indian festival to Luxembourg.

Durga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsav, is an annual festival originating in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga; it is particularly celebrated in the Eastern Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Odisha and by Hindus in Bangladesh. Durga Puja is a ten-day festival, of which the last five are the most significant.

According to the organisers, this year’s highlights will include art-themed decorations based on the works of Jamini Roy and other Indian Folk art themes, cuisine crafted by professional Indian cooks in Luxembourg, as well as a rich cultural programme. Guests can enjoy folk dance, Bengali and Hindi music, classical forms like Kathak and Bharatanatyam, Bollywood dance and a variety of short films created by LuxUtsav members. On the morning of Sunday 28 September, children will be able to participate in engaging creative workshops and on Monday 29 September celebrate Saptami, the seventh day of the lunar fortnight, with music provided by DJ Joey.

LuxUtsav emphasised that guests from all backgrounds are welcome to share in rituals, cultural performances and festivities.
