On Tuesday 14 January 2025, the Irish Club of Luxembourg (ICL) announced details of a transition within the club’s leadership.
Maria Kelly will now serve as President of ICL. She succeeds Bernadette Alexander who takes on the role of Vice-President. This transition was planned as part of the Committee’s 2024/2025 mandate.

Poetry and Prose Reading: On Thursday 16 January 2025, a poetry and prose reading event will take place at Sazio, Luxembourg-Grund (7 Bisserweg), at 18:30 for a 19:00 start. Luxembourg-based Irish writer Terry Adams will read from his various books on the themes of family, social, mind, friends, world and endings. He will be accompanied by live music from Luxembourg-based Irish singer and songwriter Jon Meehan. Entry to the event is free but spaces are limited. St Brigid’s Day Dinner: An informal dinner is being held on Tuesday 4 February 2025, at the Eirelux Irish Pub & Restaurant in Luxembourg-Howald (40 Rue des Bruyères), at 19:00. The event is organised to celebrate Ireland’s patroness saint, St Brigid, whose feast day falls on 1 February each year. Those attending the informal meal can choose from the restaurant menu and pay for their own meal. Both members and non-members are welcome. To reserve a place, email: party@irishclub.lu;
St Patrick’s Day Gala Dinner: On Monday 17 March 2025, ICL will host its St Patrick’s Day Gala Dinner at Hotel Le Royal, Luxembourg-Ville (12 Boulevard Royal). The celebration of Ireland’s patron saint will start with a cocktail reception at 18:30 and will feature Irish dancing by Comhaltas Luxembourg and live music from the band Alizeti. All proceeds, after costs, will go to support the Ilula Orphan Program (IOP), a charity dedicated to helping Tanzania’s most vulnerable children and marginalised communities.
