Democrats Abroad Luxembourg has announced its agenda for upcoming debates and activities regarding the Presidential Election.
The group has organised two debates in Luxembourg about the US Presidential Election candidates between Democrats Abroad Luxembourg and Republicans Overseas Luxembourg. One took place on 21 September and the next will take place on 20 October. The debates are monitored by the U.S. Embassy to Luxembourg, David McKean. Democrats Abroad Luxembourg will also host Watch Parties for the televised Presidential Debates beginning on 26 September.
In terms of the election itself, Americans living in Luxembourg will have an opportunity to vote by requesting their absentee ballots at a variety of events hosted by Democrats Abroad Luxembourg. For many Americans, a covered pavilion on the Grand Rue of Luxembourg City will be the most convenient location on Saturday 24 September and Sunday 2 October.
Will Bakker, Chair of Democrats Abroad Luxembourg, has invited club leaders, event organisers, and local businesses to request that Democrats Abroad Luxembourg provide its voter-registration services at no cost.
Democrats Abroad has a global team of voting experts who can answer questions and even take up unusual cases. The service is non-partisan and will help any American living outside the United States and its territories.
The International Chair Katie Solon commented that they are “seeing a huge increase in voter registration this year and anticipate a record turnout in November.”
Earlier this year, Democrats Abroad also hosted a Global Presidential Primary that included in-person voting in Luxembourg. However, those who voted in that primary may not automatically receive an absentee ballot for the general election in November, which requires a separate request to the home state of each US citizen.
