The Elysée String Quartet will play in Luxembourg next month, accompanied by English-German soprano Julia Thornton at the Valentiny Foundation.

The concert, taking place at 17:00 on 7 April 2019, will bring together soprano (Julia Thornton) and string music (Elysée String Quartet).

Former members of the Ysaÿe and Anton string quartets, both former winners of the Grand Prize at the Evian International Competition, created the Elysée Quartet in 1995. The quartet, which combines the French and Russian schools, has performed across Europe as well as in Israel, Japan, China, Canada and Nicaragua. In France, they have played at many festivals, such as the Fayence String Quartet Festival and the Lubéron String Quartet Festival.

Accompanying them on this occasion will be English-German lirico-spinto soprano Julia Thornton, who is based in Freiburg-im-Breisgau Germany. Julia has a wide repertoire and has sung internationally as a concert singer. Born and educated in Chester in England, she trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and, after completing her studies in Manchester, took part in masterclasses at the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies in Aldeburgh.

Tickets cost €30 and can be reserved via email: info@valentiny-foundation.com.
