Belle Bandura asbl has announced the Ukrainian traditional winter celebration “Ukrainian Winter Night”, taking place with a charitable purpose on Saturday 6 December 2025 at the CELO cultural centre in Hesperange (476 Route de Thionville) at 19:00.
The aim of the event is to immerse guests in the winter traditions of Ukraine, including local cuisine and musical concerts, as the organisers view the sharing of Ukrainian culture and heritage as an important way to support communities and to promote resilience in the face of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The event is open to local and international visitors wishing to experience one of the “most powerful and fun” winter traditions of Ukraine. The evening programme will include arts and crafts workshops for children and adults, as well as a musical performance by the folk group Bozhedary. The group consists of young Ukrainians who have arrived in Luxembourg from Kyiv and from Bad Homburg in Germany, where many of their families have found shelter since 2022. They will perform several traditional polyphonic Ukrainian songs and will invite guests to join the social dance part of the evening. Ukrainian traditional food and drinks will be available before and during the musical programme.
A charitable auction will run throughout the evening to raise funds for this cultural initiative in Luxembourg and for several charities in Ukraine, featuring special items brought from Ukraine.
Luxembourg-based Ukrainian photographer and sociologist Kateryna Mostova will present her newly published photo book My Ukraine at her stand. The CELO foyer will include a festive photo zone, along with a Ukrainian stand offering traditional souvenirs and handcrafted items for guests preparing their Christmas gifts.
Entry to the event is free of charge.
