On Friday 14 November 2025, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) announced that Thomas Kauffmann will leave his role as Director of the Luxembourg section after three years to take up the leadership of Care Luxembourg.

The move aims to support Care Luxembourg’s projects focusing on inequality and the fight against poverty.

MSF President Engy Ali acknowledged “Thomas Kauffmann’s unwavering commitment to the Luxembourg section in service of vulnerable populations around the world”. She added: “To commit to MSF is to commit to populations who do not have access to healthcare, and to uphold the values of neutrality, impartiality and independence, regardless of the role held within our organisation.”

Thomas Kauffmann stated: “Being at the head of the historic Luxembourg section has been a great honour and an immense pleasure. I loved working with a strong, motivated, intelligent and efficient team, alongside an equally exceptional Board of Directors as well as our members, volunteers and donors, who commit every day to those who have only MSF as a safeguard.”
