On Tuesday 8 April 2025, the municipality of Steinfort reported that the Steinfort Christmas Market, a local institution steeped in tradition and solidarity, had donated €5,000 to two local non-profit organisations.
Each year, a portion of the proceeds from this Christmas Market is dedicated to supporting charitable organisations working for the well-being of the most vulnerable in Luxembourg. According to the municipality, the 23rd edition, held last December, was "a great success" owing to the active participation of exhibitors, local associations and visitors.
During a small ceremony at the Al Schmelz cultural centre in Steinfort last week, the Steinfort municipal council, in collaboration with the Entente des Sociétés, presented cheques worth €2,500 each to two non-profit organisations. The first, Rhana, supports people with motor disabilities thanks to specially trained assistance dogs. The second, SOS Kannerduerf, provides a safe and caring environment for the children entrusted to its care, offering them appropriate support. The donation is specifically intended to support the Kannerduerf music project.
In his speech, the Mayor of Steinfort, Sammy Wagner, expressed his gratitude to everyone who had contributed to the success of the Christmas Market. He stressed the importance of solidarity and generosity and the fundamental values of this event.
At the event, the organisers revealed that the 24th edition of the Steinfort Christmas Market will take place on the first and second weekends of December 2025 and will be situated in the park between the town hall and Villa Collart.
The cheque presentation was followed by a traditional toast in celebration of the market and those involved.
