The seventh edition of Darkness into Light Luxembourg, an annual 5km walk, will take place on Saturday 10 May 2025.

The aim of the charity event is to raise awareness of suicide and self-harm. According to the organisers, this sunrise walk is for “anyone who has struggled or is still struggling through despair, for family members who want to show their loved ones that they understand and that they care; it's for those who want to do something positive and hopeful in memory of someone they have lost to mental health issues; it's for young people, and indeed people at every stage of life, who are finding it hard to cope; it's for parents to show their children that no matter what they are going through, they will be there for them”.

They added that “it is a walk of community, a walk of hope. With this walk we want to banish the shame and stigma, so that it's easier for people to ask for help. We want to show those suffering that they are not alone and that even in the darkest of moments there is always hope”.

Since its inception in Ireland in 2009, this symbolic walk has grown to become a global movement, taking place across five continents. Darkness Into Light Luxembourg 2024 saw more than 650 people walking from the darkness of night towards the hope that every new day brings, raising €25,000 for its three partner charities, the Centre d’Information et Prévention of Ligue Santé Mentale, SOS Détresse and Kanner-Jugendtelefon (KJT), as well as Pieta House in Ireland, the worldwide organiser of Darkness Into Light.

The walk will take place on Saturday 10 May at 05:00, starting at the Hall Omnisport in Luxembourg-Clausen (39 Montée de Clausen; at the new primary school).

Participants are encouraged to bring friends and family along. Tea and coffee will be served after the walk and participants will have the opportunity to talk with the partner charities.

This charity event is being organised under the High Patronage of Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg and with the support of the Ambassador of Ireland to Luxembourg, Jean McDonald.
