On Thursday 13 February 2025, Luxembourg representatives of the Auchan chain presented the Director of local non-profit organisation Stëmm vun der Strooss, Alexandra Oxacelay, with a cheque for €6,100.
Over the festive period, Auchan Luxembourg invited people from associations, schools and companies to help the Auchan staff wrap hundreds of Christmas gifts free of charge. Over that period, a total of €6,100 was raised to finance part of the purchase of 500 sleeping bags by the local non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society. These will be distributed between now and the end of winter to the many homeless people who pass through the doors of the associations three social restaurants in Luxembourg-Hollerich, Esch-sur-Alzette and Ettelbruck.
Director of Auchan (Kirchberg), Mathias Santerre, along with fellow members of staff Peggy Kieffer, Angélique Simon and Hélène Ranger, took the opportunity to visit the various services offered by the non-profit at 7 Rue de la Fonderie (Luxembourg-Hollerich) and plan future initiatives in support of the non-profit’s most disadvantaged members.
In line with Auchan's company values, combating food waste and developing the company's social responsibility plan, Mathias Santerre recalled that on many occasions Auchan employees have demonstrated their generosity by organising collections of essential items such as foodstuffs, hygiene products and clothing. This commitment has been extended for the year 2025 and other actions have also been planned.
Alexandra Oxacelay said: “Thanks to the actions carried out with the various Auchan shops in the country and the generosity of customers and Auchan employees it has been possible to significantly increase the aid provided to people in need.”
