Following an initiative introduced during the 2023 edition of the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg, the management and employees of Forvis Mazars recently presented a cheque to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde (SOSVEM), the humanitarian partner of the event for the third consecutive year.

On 11 May 2024, Forvis Mazars had fourteen of its employees taking part in the seventeenth ING Night Marathon Luxembourg. They all “proudly” crossed the finish line. This participation resulted in a donation of €5,000 given to the Luxembourg association SOSVEM to support an emergency aid project in the face of drought in southern Ethiopia. Last year, the donation from the audit and consulting firm helped support populations on the brink of famine in the Great South of Madagascar.

To celebrate the runners' success, the Forvis Mazars Shadow Board, made up of eight young employees involved in the company's strategy, welcomed two employees from SOSVEM to its offices in Luxembourg at the end of May to present them with a symbolic cheque for €5,000. Anne Schweizer, Partnerships Manager, and Lisa Forrler, Communications and Fundraising Officer, presented the beneficiary project. They thanked the Shadow Board and congratulated the members of the firm involved in the race.

The €5,000 will go to an ongoing project in the Oromia region of Ethiopia, SOSVEM noted. Set up by the local SOS association, this project has been meeting the health and nutritional needs of populations affected by recurring drought since 2023, especially young children, pregnant or breastfeeding women and the elderly. It aims to strengthen the capacities of health services in the region's establishments, in particular the Yabello hospital, which offers a mobile service in rural areas and, in a second phase, will support household livelihoods through an innovative agricultural approach geared towards better nutrition, the association concluded.
