On Friday 23 February 2024, CGFP Services Asbl invited the Stëmm vun der Strooss, the charity supporting the homeless and most vulnerable members of society, to a lunch at the State Canteen on Bld F.D. Roosevelt in Luxembourg city centre.

During the week, the state canteen is usually only open to state employees; however, on Friday, the canteen welcomed more than 300 guests from the Stëmm vun der Strooss to enjoy a three-course meal with them.

Around 30 volunteers slipped into the role of a waiter for an afternoon. They accompanied the guests to tables and looked after their well-being. The menu presented was vegetable soup, followed by bouchée à la reine and chocolate mousse. The main course in particular is a favourite in the state canteen and the guests were full of praise.

This was all captured by photographer Laurent Blum, who has been a volunteer photographer at certain events for the Stëmm vun der Strooss for 9 years.

People who regularly make use of the different services of the Stëmm vun der Strooss do not often have the opportunity to go to an actual restaurant and enjoy a three-course meal. By making this idea possible, CGFP-Services provided not only a delicious warm meal, but also painted a smile on people’s faces.

An event like this can make a big difference in someone’s day. It provides an opportunity for beneficiaries to escape their often difficult and draining daily life, and even offers a distraction, even if just for a few hours. Stëmm vun der Strooss hopes to be able to organise more events like this in the future and would like to thank the initiator Vu Tang Huynh and the organisation around Nadine Wilwo, manager of the canteen, as well as the CGFP-Services kitchen team and the numerous volunteers.
