The Comité pour la défense des droits de l'Homme en Iran, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation working to defend human rights in Iran, has announced that it is organising a memorial rally and march in Luxembourg City on Sunday 8 January 2023.

The "Action for Iran" event will start in Glacis square in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg at 14:00 before moving towards Place de l'Europe in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

As the non-profit explained, Sunday will mark three years since Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 (PS752) was shot down by two missiles launched by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). 176 people lost their lives that day, but, according to the non-profit, "the brutality of the regime did not stop then". Since September 2022, over 600 protesters have been reportedly murdered,18,000 detained and two have been executed by the Islamic regime, added the non-profit.

To raise public and international awareness, the globally-organised "Action for Iran" rally and march will aim to remember the victims of flight PS752 and highlight the role of the IRGC in this "deliberate human tragedy".

The Comité pour la défense des droits de l'Homme en Iran will present the actions expected at the national and international levels on this occasion. It will also discuss the topic of political sponsorship and its importance in saving detainees' lives. According to the non-profit, fifteen members of the Luxembourg parliament (Chamber of Deputies) have already agreed to be the political sponsors for detainees in imminent danger of execution in Iran.
