Luxembourg bus and coach service Sales-Lentz has confirmed the arrival of 34 Ukrainian refugees in the Grand Duchy.

On the evening of Sunday 6 March 2022, after a long journey aboard a Sales-Lentz bus, several refugee families (34 people in total) arrived in Bascharage at the Sales-Lentz headquarters.

More than 25 Sales-Lentz employees volunteered to help set up a "solidarity chain", according to the transportation company, aimed at ensuring a "dignified welcome [...] in the best possible conditions" for these families. On site, volunteers prepared a buffet with cakes, drinks and other foodstuffs for the newcomers. Sales-Lentz added that its partners La Provençale, Meyer, Cafe um Moart and Osteria del Ponte respectively offered "welcome packs", a full buffet, about fifteen pizzas and lasagne.

Children also received toys, books and sweets.

Regarding accommodation and all the administrative procedures, everything was arranged by the non-profit organisation Slava Ukrayini Luxembourg. The host families were present on Sunday evening to welcome their guests.

Another partner of Sales-Lentz, Tango, provided the newly arrived refugees with free sim cards to allow them to keep in touch with their loved ones in Ukraine.

Moreover, in order to help these families to overcome the trauma of the war, a psychological unit has been set up in an intimate conference room.

Nineteen vans were reserved for the occasion to ensure all the logistics and transport of the many donations.
