For 12 years now, the Stëmm vun der Strooss charity that supports the homeless and those vulnerable in society, has been partnering with the Order of Malta Luxembourg.
As a result of their help, it was possible in mid-September for Stëmm vun der Strooss to bring a little joy to needy people in the form of a food distribution in the social restaurant of Esch-sur-Alzette with a food truck rented especially for this purpose.
The sustainable partnership announced at that time is now taking on even more concrete forms.
On the initiative of Jean-Pierre Genicot, Pascal di Tullo and Suzette Decker, no less than 30 volunteers from the Order of Malta Luxembourg bought hygiene articles such as shampoo, hand creams, etc. A considerable sum of €1,000 wort of hygiene products was collected to be distributed in the form of kits to the clients of the Stëmm vun der Strooss at their Christmas party.
Volunteer paramedics are also present there to enforce the Covid-Check system.
The two associations also work together regularly in Esch-sur-Alzette, every second Saturday when the social restaurant is closed. Breakfast and hot soup are then distributed free-of-charge to those in need on the premises of Stëmm vun der Strooss. In this way, continuity is guaranteed.
Stëmm vun der Strooss eventually plans to set up in the north of the country to distribute soup there with the help of the Order of Malte
