One of the highlights of the social and society calendar, the Russian Charity Ball, which was scheduled to take place on 15 January 2022, has been postponed.

The decision was taken by the Organisational Committee of the Russian Charity Ball in light of the latest restrictions announced by the Luxembourg government that came into force on 25 December and will last until mid-February.

According to Vsevolod Iampolski, President of Russian Club in Luxembourg a.s.b.l. and Organisational Committee of the Russian Charity Ball, they hope to reschedule the event to ensure it takes place in early March 2022.

The statement on the ball's website reads "In light of the latest restrictions announced by the Luxembourg government, we very much regret to inform you that the date of the event had to be postponed. Despite the current situation, supporting children who came to depend on our help, remains our top priority. We are currently working to confirm the new date provisionally previewed for the beginning of March 2022 and will inform you as soon as possible... We remain optimistic that the new date for the ball will be in the early 2022. Spring is the symbol of flowers and beauty, when everything is coming back to life! Our aim is to hold the ball during the “Maslenitsa”, usually celebrated before the Great Lent. In Luxembourg, it is the Buergbrennen holiday, when the 'Buergen ' (torches) are lit across the Grand Duchy to chase away the winter."
