Launched by the Luxembourg business law firm Wildgen in 2014, the Wildgen 4 Children (W4C) toy drive has become an institution in Luxembourg: known for making many youngsters happy, W4C will be held from 3 to 20 November 2021 across the Grand Duchy.
The W4C initiative supports around a dozen charities in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. The main objective is helping youngsters that are experiencing challenging situations.
How did it start?
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has long been at the heart of concerns shared Wildgen. Labelled Socially Responsible Company and "Responsibility Europe", Wildgen has always been devoted to preserve the environment, protect children and women’s rights and promote innovation, art and diversity, as evidenced by the actions carried out under the CSR brand “W4 – Wildgen for”. Having become aware of the daily struggles facing so many youngsters (according to an European Commission study released on 28 October, 24.2% of children under 18 are at risk of poverty in Luxembourg) the firm has decided to take things further and tap into the solidarity and generosity of Luxembourg by introducing the national W4C donation-collection event set up in various places.
The first edition took place in 2014 attracting only six companies and nine charities. This year, the toy collection will involve over 30 of the economy’s key players nationally, and will support 12 charities.
How can I take part and when is the deadline for donating?
Residents and border residents can drop off their donations at any of seven public collection points (see list below) around Luxembourg from 3 to 20 November (International Children's Day).
Luxembourg companies are not left out, as about 30 of them organise an internal W4C toy collection to which staff and clients can contribute.
Where can I drop off my donations?
Seven public drop off points are at your disposal across the country:
• Wildgen, 69 boulevard de la Pétrusse, Luxembourg
• Black Wombat, 19 rue des Capucins, Luxembourg
• CFL, Gare de Luxembourg, Consigne à bagages
• Kaempff-Kohler, 49 rue Gabriel Lippmann, Niederanven / 18 Place Guillaume II, Luxembourg
• L’essentiel, 115 a rue Emile Mark, Differdange
• Pall Center, 2 Arelerstrooss, Oberpallen
What can I donate?
Anyone can drop off toys such as board games, books, puzzles, indoor and outdoor items for children, electronic items like consoles, video games, sports equipment, school equipment, and bicycles, scooters, etc., but in perfect working order (new or second-hand). Unfortunately, for hygiene reasons, W4C cannot accept soft toys, teddy bears or clothing.
Where are my donations going?
W4C currently supports around a dozen organisations working to support youngsters within Luxembourg and the Greater Region, a number which includes household names, as well as smaller and less well-known ones. The charity event offers all these groups their share of the limelight, as well as drawing attention to the wonderful work they achieve on a daily basis. At the end of the toy collection, W4C volunteers will sort the toys based on the needs expressed by the charities. Delivery is planned for the end of November.
Beneficiary associations for 2021 are: Croix-Rouge Luxembourg, Du pain pour chaque enfant, Een Häerz fir Kriibskrank Kanner, Fondation Autisme Luxembourg, Fondation Kannerschlass, Foyer Sud «Fraen an Nout», L’ile aux clowns, Maison Croix-Rouge Arlon, Solina Solidarité Jeunes, Stëmm vun der Strooss, TABA, Tricentenaire.
How can my company take part too?
From 3 to 20 November, companies can set up a collection point on their premises for staff and clients to drop off donations. The W4C’s team supplies the promotional material and takes care of the logistics and pick-up of the donated items. At the end of the action, you can also take part in the toys sorting, by sending some volunteers. Organisers can be reached by email:
