Luxembourg law firm CMS has donated €1,000 to local non-profit organisation SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde (SOSVEM).

Earlier this year, CMS employees embarked on a sporting challenge for a good cause. Using a mobile application, different teams counted the kilometres they covered between May and June while walking or running. In the end, they covered a total of 9,174 kilometres.

For the three winning teams, CMS management has committed to awarding €1,000 to a charity chosen by the team members: the chosen charity was SOSVEM, which will use the sum to contribute to the healthy development of children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care.

Delphine Danhoui, lawyer and captain of one of the winning teams, presented the cheque to Anne Schweizer, Partnerships Officer at SOSVEM, during a visit to the Luxembourg non-profit's premises. The visit was also an opportunity to discuss only the organisation's development and emergency aid projects, as well as CMS's corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, which is inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Delphine Danhoui and Anne Schweizer said together: "What a joy to be able to transform a sporting challenge into a gesture of solidarity in favour of children in need".

The donation will contribute to the many programmes funded by the non-profit around the world. SOSVEM is currently involved in development programmes (West Africa, Uzbekistan) and emergency aid (including Colombia, Ethiopia, Haiti, Madagascar, Central African Republic), as well as in large-scale social, educational and environmental projects.
