The Luxembourg Red Cross has sent out its teams to assist in flood relief efforts in the Grand Duchy.

The response of the Luxembourg Red Cross includes the intervention of teams in the field and the provision of emergency housing. The non-profit humaitarian organisation has also activated its "Solidarity Fund" to support victims, in addition to the efforts already made by other actors.

“The impact of these floods is immediate and brutal for many families. Governments and insurance companies intervene, but some people may find themselves unable to meet urgent expenses which are essential to resuming their normal lives. The Luxembourg Red Cross Solidarity Fund can provide them with rapid assistance”, explained Michel Simonis, Director General of the Luxembourg Red Cross.

Assistance from the Luxembourg Red Cross Solidarity Fund can be requested through social welfare offices (offices sociaux) or directly via the Luxembourg Red Cross helpline number 2755. This assistance will be allocated in addition to any assistance from social welfare offices, insurance or state aid.

In addition, the Luxembourg Red Cross has set up service continuity plans for its own infrastructures affected by the floods and has organised emergency housing in its various structures for several dependent elderly people, whose homes are no longer habitable. If necessary, additional places can be created to help people in distress find accommodation while having access to the required care.
