Rotary Club Bascharage Kordall present €5,000 cheque to Stëmm vun der Strooss;

On the initiative of Philippe Bermes, President of the Rotary Club Bascharage-Kordall 2020-21, a donation of €5,000 has been presented to the Stëmm vun der Strooss, to support the Caddy Schweesdrëps 2 project.

With this new facility, which is currently under construction, the Stëmm will have a presence in Sanem.

The presentation took place at the Threeland Hotel in Pétange in the presence of members of the Rotary Club Bascharage-Kordall. The representatives of the association used this opportunity to present the activities of the Stëmm and especially the new building in Sanem.

Due to organisation, efficiency and cost reduction, the Schweesdrëps and Caddy workshops and the Immo Stëmm service will be centralised on the same premises. Currently, 30 people (who are in a professional rehabilitation measure) wash 4,700 sports team jerseys at Schweesdrëps. The Caddy workshop employs 22 people who process and distribute 125 tonnes of food from the Auchan hypermarket every year.

This new project will make it possible to promote food recycling (increasing to 500 tonnes per year), reintegrate 90 people into the labour market and enable the association to distribute more meals to people in need in the restaurants of the Stëmm and to other non-profit associations. The project is sustainable, innovative and local, as it fights food waste and poverty while promoting solidarity and providing work.

It is not the first time that the Stëmm vun der Strooss could count on the generous support of the Rotarians, who are always committed to the good cause and have been partners for a long time. In a relaxed atmosphere, the evening ended with interesting conversations, as Bob Ritz, communications officer of the Stëmm vun der Strooss, explained “I would like to thank the members of the Rotary Club Bascharage-Kordall who have welcomed us so warmly with them and the Stëmm vun der Strooss is proud to be able to count on such a reliable partner”.

The two paths will cross again in the future, as Philippe Bermes has already expressed his wish to lend a hand to the association at its annual Christmas party: “In the past, we have already had the opportunity to help disadvantaged people at the Stëmm's Christmas party, which is always a privileged moment that allows us to provide our help directly on the spot and to discuss with those in need. The Rotary Club Bascharage-Kordall would be much honoured to participate again in the 2021 Christmas Party”.
