Following its inauguration on Wednesday, a new Stand Speak Rise Up! (SSRU) exhibition is on display until 7 March 2020 at the Belle Etoile shopping centre in Bertrange.

Organised by the Fondation du Grand-Duc et de la Grande-Duchesse for the benefit of the SSRU initiative, this exhibition is one of several new projects having been created at the national and international levels in the fight against sexual violence in sensitive areas.

Such projects aim to continue the efforts of the international conference "Stand Speak Rise Up!", organised on the initiative of Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess, in Luxembourg last March. The aim of this conference, which brought together 1,200 people and allowed 50 survivors from 18 countries to interact with experts and the public, was twofold: to present the reality of rape as a weapon of war with all its devastating consequences, thanks to the testimonies of survivors; reflect together on solutions to combat sexual violence as a weapon of war, but also justice and reparation for victims.

The exhibition at the Belle Etoile shopping centre will retrace this two-day conference in photos, as well as highlighting the initiatives put in place to combat the exploitation and use of sexual violence in sensitive areas. Various activities are also being organised throughout the exhibition to support victims. These include Fondation EME "Zikozana" djembe concerts by Lycée technique du Centre (LTC) students on 29 February and 7 March at 15:30 and a round table on "Fair trade coffee to fight sexual violence" on 5 March 2020 at 18:00. Philippe Majerus, Director of the Fondation du Grand-Duc et de la Grande-Duchesse, and Jean-Louis Zeien, President of Fairtrade, will be present at the round table.

The SSRU exhibition aims to raise consumer and general public awareness of the topic of sexual violence, while emphasising the positive impact that everyone can have. On this occasion, Cactus, in cooperation with the Ateliers du Tricentenaire, will donate part of the profits of the sale of its “Chouchous du Coeur” chocolate product, to SSRU projects.
